Re: Subscribing problem

Hi folks,

I'll second Sam Ruby's statement that we might be getting a bit off- track here, but at the same time will assure you all that I've been reading and digesting everything everybody's said in this thread. It will help to inform decisions if and when we reevaluate Safari's feed autodiscovery mechanism for a future release.

In particular, the issue of Safari's occasional ignorance of FeedBurner aggregated feeds is a documented one.

Thanks again all.

Fully agree. I hope Jake doesn't feel like he got dogpiled by a bunch of Atom zealots.

My concerns:
* Users shouldn't recieve a linkblog instead of full posts because of
a format preference
* Users shouldn't recieve a feed without GUIDs and dates if one exists
with the same content, because of a format preference.
* Publishers should be able to rely on Safari picking the top feed by
default. One such case I've seen is when Blogger users use Feedburner
to synthesize a feed from more than one source. Sometimes, this takes
the form of an RSS2 feed, sometimes it's Atom. Feed format doesn't
really have much to do with it.
