Where does iTunes look for channel, item, and enclosure information?

After running a series of tests ( summarized here:
http://www.intertwingly.net/blog/2005/07/05/Insensitive-iTunes#c1120686256
), it appears that iTunes looks in several non-standard places for
channel information, item (episode) information, and enclosure
information. This will almost certainly lead to interoperability
problems, as publishers begin to (unintentionally) rely on
undocumented iTunes-specific quirks.

Could Apple officially document all the places that iTunes looks for
these elements in an RSS feed?
