I edit SHInit.xml (Contents/MacOS/SHInit.xml in the reader .app) to comment
out this line:

<key>selfhealingfilename</key><string>RdrENU80SelfHeal.xml</string>

...as per

and other sources.

However, there are times when it seems to un-unheal itself.  It's random,
infrequent and sporadic, but I haven't been able to bring myself to fiddle
with the permissions on an Adobe app package in the hopes of avoiding the
occasional dialog popup.

Is your MCX solution working with no user-visible error dialogs?  If so, how
are you doing that?  I'd be interested in giving that a whirl.
