Is Apple listening on this list?
We're always listening, whether or not we're speaking up ;-)
I would like to see some sort of prioritization list compiled
for porting
efforts. Some way that interested porters can find projects as
well as for
the non-programming inclined to rank the importance of projects
and suggest
new ones. I think that Apple heading this up would be the most
authoritative; although I would expect some form of input from
Apple as well
(about which projects they could help, won't help, etc).
Well, you can find out what projects Apple engineers are working
on by following the Darwin lists, and watching the Darwin
repository.
As for setting priorities for what other developers ought to be
doing, ours are probably not the same as other parties'. (e.g,
we don't have a burning need in-house for a Haskell compiler,
but there are probably some AI researchers out in the world who
want it ASAP, whether Apple needs it or not.)
