Tcl/tk

I downloaded from OS X -Unix-Apps and Utilities the latest Tcl/Tk version 8.4:
the unzipped folder contains two other ones: Application/Wish Shell and LIbrary/Frameworks. Bit the older installed version (8.3) is not in the System/LIbrary/Frameworks but as indipendent folder in System/Library. How do I can correctly remove the older version and install the new ones without having problem with System's files and without a duplicate of Tcl/Tk?
I have just little confidence with the most used terminal commands so I hope that the installation does not requires a unix manual to procede.
Can someone give me help about?
