In my porting, I use the "-Wno-precomp" flag, which will suppress these
warnings, as they are truly benign.  Although as mentioned, precompiled
headers do speed up compilation.

Thanks! That was the flag I was trying vainly to remember. The errors are not always benign, but if they are not, the "redo" with the traditional cpp will blow chunks as well. Also, using the 'no-precomp' flag doesn't really suppress the errors; the traditional cpp just doesn't encounter them (to be annoyingly pedantic :-}).
