The Mac OS X port is still on a branch, but one of the weaknesses of CVS is
if you add directories to a branch, they migrate to the head anyway. That
is why you got the directories, but not the files. Just do
cvs co -r macosx-8-4-branch tcl
And ditto for Tk. That will get you the contentful bits.
I have a somewhat old start of a port of BLT to MacOS X that I can dig up if
you are interested. It was done by the guy who helped me with the original
Aqua port, Ian Reid. He was doing it mainly to get BLT D&D working. I
don't know how far he got otherwise, and it probably won't work just off the
bat. Might help, might not...
