I have now replaced all references to nameserver_compat.h to
nameserver8_compat.h (found in two c source files) and included
DBIND_8_COMPAT in CFLAGS, yet I get the very same errors:

If I am going to bring Rendezvous to Asterisk, I will have to solve
this problem first. As far as I can tell, nobody has been able to
build Asterisk on MacOSX for a year now. The installer I built from
the CVS tree of late October 2003 would seem to be the most recent
version able to run on Darwin. Given the pace with which Asterisk is
progressing, that's really ancient.
Now that Asterisk has a 1.0 Release, many users are no longer happy
with the older build. We are getting hundreds of email asking for a
more recent build. I and the many Mac users who run Asterisk will
appreciate any help to take this hurdle. I will mention any Robin
Hoods coming forward to save the day in the credits of the new install
package.
