Thanks, Burkhard.  I have unfortunately discovered since posting that
icecast has a bevy of custom written m4 routines for autoconf that
detect and check various capabilities in libogg and libvorbis, then
setup the resulting build environment accordingly.  I am slowly but
surely rewriting those to conditionally test for a Darwin system, and
then for the xiph-frameworks Installer receipt in /Library/Receipts, and
in that case DTRT.
