linker flag -lcrypt

Hi,

I'm getting a compile error:
/usr/bin/ld: can't locate file for: -lcrypt

I've read here:
http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2002/tn2071.html

that the linker flag -lcrypt is not supported in Mac OS X.

Is there an easy way around this, maybe using mcrypt?

I'm new to this so keep that in mind if you will.
