Problem is I can't get my code to compile.  If I use "-L/usr/X11/lib
-lXft -lfreetype -lXrender -lfontconfig"  for my compiler flags I get:
"illegal reference to symbol: _XAddExtension defined in indirectly
referenced dynamic library
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.6.dylib"

If I add -lX11 to the list I get:
/usr/bin/libtool: can't locate file for: -lX11


Looks like you really wrote /usr/X11/lib instead of /usr/X11R6/lib.
