In my linux days I used to use a very nifty tool called valgrind that was very useful for catching memory problems in c++ code. Does such a thing exist for Macs?
Indeed now that macs are intel, it should be really easy to get it running on mac os x...

From http://valgrind.org, it appears that valgrind 3.1.1 also works on AMD64/Linux and PPC/Linux. Darwin support appears to be high on their list of priorities (http://valgrind.org/info/platforms.html).
