Re: user specified malloc() question (overriding system calls)

Is there a way to change the default threshold at which the kernel is
called for fresh pages when the OS X malloc is being used? For
example, on Linux, to avoid mmap calls one would set two environmental
variables:

setenv MALLOC_TRIM_THRESHOLD_ -1
setenv MALLOC_MMAP_MAX_ 0

I want to avoid the system calls and the page faults which occurs for
every large memory allocation because of a call to (with GNU malloc)
munmap.

Cheers,
JS.
