From the 'Go" -> "Connect to Server' I use afp://
<Timecapsulename>.local
I just tried smb:// and it worked.
So maybe mount_smb will be my answer.
Just be aware that calling mount_smb from the shell doesn't access
your keychain, so you'll end up with a "guest" login on the
TimeCapsule. Using Login Items will pull credentials from your
keychain.
