OSX: DFU Driver

In developing an OS X dfu driver, can anyone comment on what is the best place (in the driver) to do ReEnumerateDevice()? After tearing down some structures, I do a ReEnumerateDevice() ... which brings the usb device to life (good!), but also causes a kernel panic (not good!).
