SOS - please help

Hi all,

I'm writing a program that talks via USB to a Handspring Visor. The app works great if the Visor is connected to one of the USB ports on my Mac, but when I connect it through an external USB hub, the program I'm talking to on the Visor (which I didn't write) crashes very frequently at random times. I've tried a Dr. Bott 4-port gHub (powered), a Belkin 7-port (powered) and the Apple Keyboard (passive).

I know that the app on the Visor crashes if the # of bytes sent don't match the payload size in the packet header, so maybe the packet is being corrupted? Or not being delivered in entirety?

There must be something fundamental that I'm missing. Maybe the entire packet hasn't arrived at the Visor before the Visor starts reading out the payload.

It just seems very odd that it's only a problem when there's a USB hub between the Mac on the Visor.

How can I debug this problem? Has anyone else seen anything like this? Please help.

Thanks!
Matthew
