HID Utilities question

Hi,

I use the HID Utilities sample code and would like to obtain exclusive access to a particular device in Panther. This would require me to close the earlier obtained interface and re-open it for exclusive access. Can this be done safely using the pointer to the interface that HID Utilities stores in its recDevice struct?
