I have just noticed that on my 12" PB neither the trackpad nor the keyboard have a productID when I look at them with HID Device Explorer. Is that a "normal" practice? Why is this done? Is it only done for built-in hardware or does it also occur with external hardware?

David,

The TrackPad and the internal keyboard on PowerBooks and iBooks are ADB devices, not USB device. ADB doesn't have productID.
