I want to install two usb devices with the same vendor ID and
product ID and the same class (say printer class). How do I do this? When I
tried to install two printers of the same make & model, the later
installation overwrites the previous installation. Is this the standard
What exactly do you mean by "Install". To me that means write files
to the relevant directory, if you name the files the same, then they
will overwrite each other. If the files have different names then
If the two devices have the same Vendor-ID and the same Product-ID
then they really should be identical and not need different drivers,
that is unless they have different revision numbers. You can match 2
different drivers to 2 devices which differ only by the revision
number. If the revision number is not different then there can only
be one driver, because there is only one device.
If you need to differentiate 2 otherwise identical devices, then your
driver will have to know the difference.
