Re: Modifying Deva (very basic)

Hi David,

I suggest you have a look at the HID Utilities Library and the HID Explorer Application. I found that for my project working on communication with the Timex Data Link USB Watch, that HID Explorer worked just fine, but the HID_Manager_Basics code didn't. It also appears to be somewhat easier to use the HID Utilities Library than it is to use the HID Manager directly.

Here is the suggestion from the HID_Manager_Basics readme file.

This code is NOT designed to be production quality and serves to just support the HID documentation, with minor changes to improve interaction.
Other sample code, such as the HID Utilities Source, HID Config Save and HID Explorer, are MUCH better examples of using the HID Manager in a production
application environment. It is strong recommended developers look at those samples when starting to use the HID manager.

I'd also like to see some more people using the HID Utilities Library so we can get a little synergy going. I'm also a newbie at this and am happy to see you working on something similar.

Best regards,

Rob

OK.

I downloaded and attempted to run the HID_Manager_Basics code, but it halted at the line

printf("\n\n--- Finding GamePads ---\n");

in the function (?)

void MyStartHIDDeviceInterfaceTest (void)

and I didn't know what to do from there.

You mentioned that you have a HID device. Probably the HID Mgr has it open. I expect you should use the HID Mgr rather than the USB Mgr to converse with your device. ____________________________________________________________________
