Re: Need Help Spoofing a Windows USB Keyboard

Nope, not time for coding, time for reading the USB spec and trying to understand what you are intending to do and why it will not work.

We do have your kind of question on the USB-IF webboard with annoying regularity. I say annoying because reading older threads would give the answers. But since such a question is only asked by people who start coding without reading the spec it is expecting too much that they will read existing threads in a forum...

I don't want a keyboard at all on the windows box.

I want the mac mini computer to control the other computer (ideally
either mac or windows).

Not the keyboard to be able to control either computer.

Basically I want the KVM functionality but from either firewire, USB2
or LAN as input rather than Keyboard and mouse as input. Lan to KVM
is expensive from what I can see. I have a rabbit processor board and
can write a PS2 driver with it and spoof a PS2 keyboard but that is a
lot of work and I am oh so lazy......=)

But I guess its time to start coding...

This is a KVM switch for example:

It is designed to switch a keyboard etc between two different computers.
It must support two hosts and one USB device string.
Isn't the only problem here that the Apple keyboard won't have any funny
little "breaking window" keys etc?
I would like to make the same setup to use a mini and a PC from the same
keyboard and mouse.

Subject: Need Help Spoofing a Windows USB Keyboard

I am interested in spoofing a USB keyboard specifically a Windows USB keybard.

Ideally I want to interface with a KVM switch and be able to switch
between computers and type in information for the keyboard and mouse
from a USB port on my mac mini.

I am currently ignorant enough so as to not have a clear picture of
where to look to become less ignorant.

Anyone able to tell me....

1) Where to get scan code and packet info on Keyboard interface
2) Where to get scan code and packet info on mouse interface
3) if there is any difference between mac and windows USB keyboards

I have found a solution where I go from USB to RS232 and then RS232 to
USB mouse and keyboard, but that is pretty messy.

Thanks for the help
