RE:Native USB device driver for FTDI FT8U232/245

It sounds like you are working with a USB to DMX adapter. I'm not sure which one you are using but there is an open design that uses the FTDI USB - Serial chip (FT232BM, or equiv.). As far as I know these devices work as a serial port from Mac OS X's point of view. The biggest problem is getting the 250kbs that is needed since it is nonstandard and gets eaten by the OS along the way. There is a group of people that are working on a solution and at least one hack as been developed that works for some. These people are working with the open USB DMX adapter on the following mailing list:
