I don't know about image capture stuff, but if you are building a plugin for the "image capture" app or iPhoto, then you want to build your plugin, put it in the right place and then run the debugger on the application that will use the plugin. I do this all the time with System Preference Panes.

In Xcode you want to do the following:
1) Setup the target to build the correct plugin bundle format
2) "New Custom Executable" from the "Project Menu" - Set it to the test app.
3) Create a soft link in the Target Apps plugin folder that points to the plugin in your build directory

Now you can set break points in your plugin and choose Debug from XCode. XCode will launch the Target app in the debugger. The Target app will follow the simlink and load your plugin. The debugger will stop on any of your break points.

Very handy technique indeed.

doesn't seem to work as it just open iphoto the moment
i plug in my camera but then no camera was detected.
