Re: GetMaxPacketSize questions

Hi Mark;

I don't know if this is related or not, but there is something "odd" going on.

On my Dual G5 OSX 10.4.1 , using the USB Prober (Version 2.2) is giving me some odd results when browsing the interfaces in the Bus  Probe window.

If I look at individual interfaces (all of them are like this, hubs, devices etc.) they look like this:

 Endpoint 0x01 - Bulk Output
Address:   0x01  (OUT)
Attributes:   0x02  (Bulk no synchronization data endpoint)
 Max Packet Size:   0x01  (OUT)
Polling Interval:   0 ms

and the max packet size value is always always the same as the Address. On my G4 1.25 gighz Laptop (Also OSX 10.4.1) using the same 2.2 version of the USB Prober, it returns the actual max packet size in bytes.

The only difference between them  is that i installed the "IOUSBFamily-220.4.10-log.dmg" logger version on the G5 dual. Re-installing the non logging version does not fix it either - it appears to be permanent.

So I'm not sure if this is cosmetic or symptomatic of something else.

HTH..

How does GetMaxPacketSize determine the value it reports?  From looking at
the source, it looks like it just returns the value from the descriptor, but
if that's the case, how could it possibly be returning the wrong
information?

The descriptor clearly says it's a non-zero value, but GetMaxPacketSize()
returns 0.  Is it getting the information in some other way that I'm not
seeing?

Has anyone else ever reported an issue like this?  Seems very strange.
