There is no performance spec for bulk. You have no guaranteed bandwidth, it works as fast as it works. Macs have relatively fast high speed bulk performance, though there are new controllers coming out which are even faster. Also as you found out, some Macs are faster than others, it depends exactly on how the host is put together.
