First you will have to take direct control of the mouse through
HIDmanager. The mouse driver would make the data unusable because of
the ballistic acceleration curve.
Though there still remains the question if a mouse is exact enough.
Mouse controllers usually are not made to absolutely get every impulse,
you will not notice if the mouse is missing a few rotation impulses
once in a while. But for your application you will loose track of the
position if that happens. At least you should make sure to have a zero
position switch.

Hello all,
I would like to realise a small translation table and I thought to use
the mecanisme of a cheap USB mouse to get positionning information on
it. I would like to know if it is possible and how hard it is to do
it. First of all I would like to be able to make a small application
that will display the absolute displacement of an USB Mouse and don't
let it interfere with the mouse cursor (let says that I already have
an other mouse plugged or a trackpad to control the mouse cursor) Is
anyone have any clue?
Best regards
Denis
