RE: USB Prober & USB logger in Mac OS X (10.3.7)

Sounds like you have a really old version of USB Prober. For the last year or so, the version shipped will automatically install the kLog.kext required to get kernel messages.

Where did you get the developer tools that you installed? Are you running the version of USB Prober found in /Developer/Applications/Utilities ?

I have loaded corresponding USB Logger and USB Prober after
Downloading from the suggested link. But when the USB Logger
of the USB Prober application is launched, a message
"LogUser: [ERR] Could not set notification port 10000003"
is displayed. When USB Logger is launched from terminal same
errror is shown up along with "Clean UP" and application is
terminated. What can be done to make it work?

The USB system software on MacOS prior to OS X, shipped with it's
logging enabled. So no special versions of software were required to
enable logging.

With MacOS X, in order to saved on wired memory, we only having
logging enabled in special "logging" versions of the IOUSBFamily.
You can download these from here:

Be sure to install the correct version for the OS version you are
running, to avoid the embarrassing situation of booting with no
working USB!
