Internal modem support (Microdash) is seriously broken

Hi,

Already sent a bug report via feedback form, now I got more insight into problem I better share.

OS X 10.4.1 here, double verified installation via Pacifist, Cocktail and by hand, disk permissions are (of course) quadruple or more verified. the Tiger DVD ROM distribution part number M9639Z/A (of course, I suspect a major problem)

Modem Information:

  Modem Model:	MicroDash
  Interface Type:	USB
  Modulation:	V.92
  SKU Name:	Euro
  Hardware Version:	1.0F
  Firmware Version:	APPLE VERSION 2.6.4
  Driver:	InternalUSBModem.kext (v2.6.4)
  Country:	B5 (United States, Latin America)

Note, its not a "eccentric" modem installed by me, it came with my G5 1600 SP system.

The message when using anything using cu.modem at system console:
May 21 11:05:51 ilgaz-ocals-power-mac-g5 kernel[0]: InternalModemSupport::acquirePort: still no modem after powering on the modem
May 21 11:06:27 ilgaz-ocals-power-mac-g5 kernel[0]: InternalModemSupport::acquirePort -- ERROR -- InternalUSBModem.kext did not load after 30 seconds

The interesting message on Terminal when I finally figured out how to test things by Terminal:
cable25-100:~ ilgaz$ sudo kextload -t -e /System/Library/Extensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/InternalUSBModem.kext
Password:
can't add kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/InternalUSBModem.kext (validation error) (run kextload on this kext with -t for diagnostic output)
kernel extension /System/Library/Extensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/InternalUSBModem.kext has problems:
Validation failures
{
   "Kext has a kernel dependency prior to version 6.0 and CFBundleVersion does not match executable's MODULE_VERSION" = true
}
Missing dependencies
{
   "com.apple.iokit.IOSerialFamily" =
       "No valid version of this dependency can be found"
   "com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily" =
       "No valid version of this dependency can be found"
}

I am not hacking any files until I get reply of course.

Have a nice day

Ilgaz Ocal
