I've seen Java applications that have talked to USB devices using the
UserClient APIs. So it can be done. From your description, it
sounds like they may be using JNI to talk to the existing APIs
I can't provide any recommendations, however.

Hi,
For research I want to connect a USB-device to Mac and access the
data with Java.
There are some possibilities to do that but with individual drawbacks:
- javax.usb: this doesn't work with Mac
- jUSB: they support only Windows and Linux. I don't know if it
works also on Mac
- libUSB: supports Mac, but it's in C so I have to use JNI to access the data.
Unfortuantely I first have to know which way I have to go before I
buy the device.
Does anyone has a recommendation what the most convinient way is to
communicate with a USB-device under Mac with Java?
Thanks a lot,
Peter
