Webcam under OS X

Hi,

Is there a common framework to use webcams? I need something like this to support webcams in WengoPhone (http://dev.openwengo.com).
I would like to use every webcams, not only iSight. I heard about Macam, IOExperts that are drivers for webcams but is there a layer upon these drivers?
