Hi All,
I am writing an OS X driver for a non-class compliant USB audio device. The device has two isochronous endpoints (audio in and out) plus four interrupt endpoints. The driver needs to be able to do DSP effect processing on the input stream and send it to the output stream. The interrupt endpoints can send data that affects the DSP algorithm.
I have written a Windows XP driver for this device but this is my first go-around with writing an OS X driver. I am looking for some advice on a general direction to take with this project. I have read all of the documentation regarding IO Kit, Device Matching and USB that I could find on the Apple Developer site but I am still not sure of the approach to take.
Do I need to start my driver by inheriting from IOUSBDevice directly?
Can I use IOAudioEngine but not have it register with coreaudio?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Stephen
