we set the SCSI interface RMB bit to 0 (thus not identifying as
removable media.) For this reason the device is not recognized by
OS X as a flash drive and is not automatically exposed to the user
on the desktop.
Does changing the Finder pref "Show these items on the desktop" for
"Hard Disks" make any difference to that?
