I have never heard of using USB to connect 2 Macs, if you are looking to use on as a hard drive for the other then you can use a firewire cable and put the Mac you want to use as a HD into target disk mode (I believe you just hold down the 'T' key at startup, maybe other modifier keys but I don't think so). If you want more functionality than a HD from the second Mac you should look into networking them.
