Good news and not so good news.

The good news is that on my borrowed ibook my 60CS does now enumerate
correctly. Yay!

The bad news is that there's a bit of a raincloud over GPSBabel playing nicely
with it. There's a workaround, but it's not for the faint of heart.

With GPSBabel exactly as it's checked into the tree, it starts to get off the
ground, succeeding in one write, one read, one write, and then hangs on the
second read:

At this point, you're going to think that I'm making this up, but tweak
jeeps/libusb.c to remove the __APPLE__ stuff, rebuild it, rerun it and watch
it fail in a slightly different way. Now put the __APPLE__ thing back in,
rebuild it, and it'll work all day long from this point on until you power
cycle the unit or unplug/replug it at which time you have to go through this
same process.

Very weird. Something is getting "stuck" in the build of the plumbing. From
here it's surely a mere matter of programming that needs someone with a
debugger and/or USB analyzer to track it whack it.

Now that we're basically in the game, though, perhaps a motivated Garmin/Mac
Babelhead can run with it...
