Re: IOUSBUserClient versioning across PPC / Intel

Steve,

I guess I can't help you much then; I believe the plist should be set for the lowest denominator.
I just tried my mine on a blueberry iMac running 10.2.8 and it worked.
I did get a strange error message using 'kextload -t'
kext has dependencies prior to 6.0 and executable does not match MODULE_NAME
This message can't be true, when I leave out the '-t' it loads and works just fine.

Hi Bill,

I have no difficulty building the universal binary; in my case the ppc
version is built against 10.2.8 and the intel against 10.4u. The problem is
that the ppc and intel dependencies are different, but they share a single
info.plist file. Is there a such a thing as a "fat" plist? Am I missing
something obvious?

There's a good TN2163 on how to set up xcode so that the ppc half is
linked against 10.2.8 or 10.3 SDKs
Worked for me fairly easy, except for having to figure out how to
deal with clock_get_uptime() being different in 10.4

Hey guys,

Been shipping a kext for a few years with

    OSBundleLibraries = {"com.apple.iokit.IOUSBFamily" = "1.8"; };

Now I want to ship a universal binary but compiling the Intel version
against the 10.4u requires that my OSBundleLibraries for
IOUSBFamily be
2.2.0. That precludes installing the kext on pre-Tiger systems.

Is there a facility to specify multiple architecture-dependent
OSBundleLibraries dependencies? Or should the installer munge the
info.plist
depending on the architecture?

Steve
