I am experimenting with a device which currently is configured as a HID. When searching through the archives it appears that there is disagreement as to how to work with a HID device which is not a standard input device, in my case all I want to do at this time is to read a byte and write a byte to/from the device at the application level. To prevent the HID from taking control of the device so that I can read/write it I believe the preferred method is to write a code-less KEXT so that the HID is instructed not to take control, is that correct? If so where is this documented? When I do a search for "codeless KEXT" on the Apple site all it references is TN2003 which is of no help. Is there a better method to access a USB HID which is not a pointer or keyboard? It is for machine control and I will be accessing it at the application level. ----- George Lawrence Storm Macintosh Applications Development Edmonds (Seattle), Washington E-mail: <email@hidden> |
