Thank you, Lucas, The current (default) setting which is "Listen 80". If I add the IP address:

83.161.xxx.xxx:80

I can't connect from localhost anymore and others
can't connect either. If I add the domain name:

Listen blabla.demon.nl:80

I can connect from localhost but not from the outside
(same as 'Listen 80'). If I add both:

Listen blabla.demon.nl:80
83.161.xxx.xxx:80

I can't connect from localhost or any other computer.

Is this what you were suggesting I do or am I still
missing something?

Yes it was. Just out of curiosity can you connect using the ip address 83.xxx.xxx.xxx from the computer? I know you said you can't externally. Are you using virtual host directives in the apache configuration?

My setup happens to be using this at the start of a virtual host directive:

<VirtualHost *:80>

I believe this will bind the the site to all addresses. I'm only defining the external ip
Listen 216.55.178.45:80 (my websites are listed below.. anyone could get the ip anyway)

I think you said in your original post that apache 1.3.x is working so its not a firewall getting in the way. That was my first thought. Are you using the apple web sharing for the 1.3.x version of apache on your machine? Maybe it is the firewall if you are running your own. Try turning it off long enough to test it. If its the firewall, you can add a rule to make apache work. In mac os, the firewall rules are dynamically changed when you turn on and off services. If that doesn't help, I can send you my working apache config privately.
