Well, there is some sort of "support" for designMode and execCommand.
I did have an email conversation with Mark Malone from Apple, and
atleast I have this quote from him in email.
"Now that Tiger is fully baked, my goal is to fill in the missing
pieces required to support 3rd-Pty libraries providing HTML editing
features in Safari."
Looking back at the emails, he mentions that the current support for
execCommand in Safari is to "give our Mail application HTML editing
capabilities in Tiger".
So I guess there is some hope. I personally don't use Mac, we have one
at work now for testing (as donated by the TinyMCE users!). And we are
atleast following the development of Safari to see if we can one day
successfully get TinyMCE working smoothly on Safari.

If you are discounting the Midas Specification
Safari discounts the Midas spec. This is not the place to change
that. If you want to use Safari, you should use the tools Safari
supports. I don't think it's particularly important whether we call
those tools "standards" or whatever. They're either supported by
Safari or they're not, and Midas is not.
