When there is a standard to some degree. My former employer stated uptime in terms of a year in the contract.

Ah, you must have worked for Microsoft -- they're the only one I know who can get away with "imposed" standards. Everyone else goes through some standards-setting body. (But then again, Microsoft could NEVER live up to a "zero downtime for one year" standard... :-)


People need to realize that their websites will be down sometimes.
