There are 2 ways to set up the redirect.
• Change the url on the apple page to a redirect page.
• Alter the url that is the direct download on your site to be a
redirect & point it to an alternate download location on your server.
However, if you are able to track the server logs already, you can
just directly measure the downloads of the app. If you want to see
how many downloads came from apple, you can look at the referrer
reports to determine it. However if you are using a pixeling
tracking application, you need an actual html page that calls a pixel
from the tracking app. This also requires the client to be a browser
& is a known limitation of pixeling traffic reporting. Given the
growth in non-browser clients, like RSS, iTunes, etc, pixeling falls
short. There are several low cost or free log tracking apps that you
can use.

Hi,
I have published an application from me on Mac OS X Downloads. I
asked they, if they can give me download statistics. They said no,
but adviced me to set up a redirect on my page to monitor the
amount of incoming traffic. But, I can't see how to do this!
Because, on the Downloads Site you can download my app directly,
without going to my page. And, I think, that wouldn't be so great,
when you click on the direct link and then would be redirect to my
page.
Can somebody explain me, what they meant with set up a redirect?
Thanks,
