Re: How to build a webservice?



Thanks for all the help. I finally got something going. What's DAMNED irritating is that it turned out to be ridiculously simple. I feel like an idiot. But virtually all the books out there are trying to impart the "big picture" and some such rot, that they forget to just show you a working example, without loading it down into myriad nuanced cases. I think they do that to fill in as many pages as possible making their book bigger.

Ultimately the dirt-simple solution was in "PHP Phrasebook" b Christian Wenz. 6 lines of code. It works. I've already vectored it and improved it, and sending much more complex stuff. Now to attach PHP to MySQL, and I'm golden.

My particular project is strictly in-house, so I'm OK to not make it accessible via wsdl and stuff.
