Hello all,

I realize this is not Mac web development specific, but need to start asking somewhere.

I am looking for strategies to calculate shipping charges on orders for an online shopping cart. These items may range all over the place in size and weight. What I am NOT looking for is technical info on how to connect to UPS and get realtime shipping cost info. What I am looking for is an efficient way to calculate if I have n number of items that are so big and weigh so much, how many boxes of size x will I need and how much will they weigh. In other words, I need some pointers to an algorithm to figure out how best to fit these items in preexisting sized boxes. I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if any online resources already exist describing such a procedure.
