| (I'm not sure if this is the best list to post this question on, but among the various Apple Dev mailing lists, none seem to be the right subject area. Please feel to redirect my question if you think it better asked elsewhere.) Question: I'm having trouble with Launch Services. I want to set up a user's environment so that when they click a URL (most importantly within an email message) it launches our software application (assuming the software is installed on their computer), and I'm not being successful. I could use some advice on what I might be doing wrong. Background: When the user receives an email with the following link in it, I want our application to be launched: <a href=""mailto:email@hidden">email@hidden">Task name</a> (where the email@hidden is the UUID of a task.) I read through the stuff on Launch Services, and it looked like if I put the following into the Info.plist file, I'd be good: <key>CFBundleURLTypes</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleURLName></key> <string>ChirpURL</string> <key>CFBundleURLSchemes</key> <array> <string>chirp</string> </array> </dict> But I've added that to the Info.plist file, restarted the computer (so OS X rebuilds the Launch Services DB), tried clicking a link (from within Mail.app), and I still get an error from Mail.app "Unable to open URL...No associated application could be found." Ideas? Thanks in advance for responses. Cheers -jb ------------- Jay Batson |
