Problems and fixes due to Safari 2.0 rounding down of fractional percentage values.

When I reported this problem on the webkit-dev list as bug: 14694 it seemed to be rejected out of hand. However, it became clear that the response meant the problem had already been solved for Safari 3.0 as I confirmed on the Windows version. Nonetheless, this problem is real in Safari version 2.0.x.

If you want to work around these problems, then use full integer percentage values. This solved both our left hand border problem and the appearance of text within the central bands on our home pages. At the time I thought we had a third problem, however, it really had nothing to do with Safari. The problem was caused by my coding errors with neither Firefox nor IE working until I juggled the values to make div footer areas set to fractional percentage values. Therefore, I caused latter problem of mismatched borders to appear with the latter browser.

If you are interested in any details, the <a href="http://www.opensourcetoday.org/articles/HowTo/HowTo-Browser-Compatibility-I.html";>covers the left hand border</a> (while still more than a bit confused) and the second <a href="http://opensourcetoday.org/articles/HowTo/HowTo-Browser-Compatibility-II.html";>looks at the band solution</a>.

As soon as I am sure I have not inadvertently introduced other problems in my test version of the cascading style sheet I will be upgrading our site so the fixes works everywhere for Safari.
