Re: protect images from download

Walter,

Your idea looks interesting but I can't seem to figure out how to apply it.

Could you give me an example?

If you can see it in the browser, you can keep it. If you want to keep people from stealing your images, you could do

chmod 600 *.jpg

in your images folder. But I suspect that would make for a boring site.

Really, watermarking or some other form of degradation is one approach you might take, but the other is simply to treat people as if they were adults, make a clear copyright (or other rights) statement on the site, and be done with it. The amount of time you spend worrying about this and trying to engineer an end-run around your users will be wasted in most cases.

Don't post anything you wouldn't give away anyway.

If I understand the question correctly:

No, even though you can disable right-click with JS or use Flash, the user could always just do an Command-4 and grab the image.

Hi,

This seem like it should be a simple thing.

If you have a PC and money.

Isn't there a way to protect images with a Mac (OS 10.5) and a limited budget?
