WebView without RunApplicationEventLoop()

OK, here's the deal.
I've got a very large application that uses a Win32 portability library we wrote, and does not use RunApplicationEventLoop(). I have used the SimpleCarbonWeb example as the basis for my code. I am making my own WindowRef using CreateNewWindow(). I have even copied my window creation code to the sample app, and the webview worked fine. But I can't get the window to draw the web content in my app. It's the same freakin' code! All I can figure is that there's stuff going on behind the scenes with WebKit in the carbon application loop. Is there a call I can make in my event loop to get WebKit to do its thing?

What am I missing here?
