Re: using webkit instead of the gecko engine in Firefox

OK, this is a free software project so you could create a fork and use WebKit.
However, this would be useless/pointless/meaningless for several reasons, among them:
- Firefox is the mozilla foundation baby, so it's normal it uses Gecko
- Firefox uses XUL and plugins do this too and they expect the engine to be Gecko. Therefore making Firefox plugins work with WebKit could reveal being a reather tough task.

Regards.

Has anyone tried to make a webkit version of Firefox? Some people prefer (or are more used to) Firefox ui and plug-ins but the Webkit engine is faster. Why not fork Firefox and use Webkit instead of Gecko?
