The best shared object documentation I have found was written when
shared objects were first introduced: WO 4.5. See <http://

That is indeed a good article.
It highlights a number of important things not the least of which is
the need to file yet another bug report: "Please integrate so-called
legacy articles into main tree when they are still relevant..."
It just doesn't make sense to me why these are filed away under
"legacy technologies"...
