Direct to WebServices Reading?

Does anyone know of decent text for learning Direct 2 WebObjects in WO? I have asked a few different ways for the full procedure to get a fetch spec available in WebServices Assistant with no answer and I have checked these readings:

WO Wiki (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Programming:WebObjects/Web_Services/Web_Ser
vice_Provider)

Apple (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/WebObjects/Web_Services/About/c
hapter_1_section_1.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP30001019-CH204-DontLinkElem
entID_4)

My .NET "friends" are making light of this and it is getting extremely frustrating.
