This doesn't help, this script is executed too late in the X11 startup procedure. If you don't want to start X11 from the command line or tinker with global environment variables, you have to put this command into the Applications menu command line before the command that starts the application:


   . /sw/bin/init.sh ; rxvt
or
   . /sw/bin/init.sh ; lyx
